Made famous by Roald Dahl who lived here for 36 years and included many features of the village and countryside in his stories. There is an amazing museum and story centre, as well as the village trail that pay homage to him.

Great Missenden is nestled right in the middle of the Chilterns Area of Natural Beauty (AONB) and is a small attractive town with lots of character.

Commute

Commute times via train from the town are 46 minutes into Marylebone making it a perfect commuter town.  Less than 10 minutes away are Amersham and Chesham which also have excellent fast links to London.  Great Missenden also has good access to M40 and M1.

There is an excellent primary school in the town as well as secondary options both Grammar, State and Private in nearby Chesham and Amersham.
